Why buy good used motorcycle parts from a motorcycle salvage yard or a used motorcycle parts reseller instead of OEM or factory replacement parts from a dealership or a franchise? That is the question I am getting ready to address. That way you will have the real facts and with that information you should be able to make your own intelligent decision. Have you ever had to buy a new motorcycle part and experienced firsthand how expensive they are. What I am trying to say is, a person should not have to take out a loan in order to drive their bike. That is exactly how you feel sometimes when you are forced to buy your parts at the dealership. I think that is one of the reasons we have had it so easy starting out in the motorcycle salvage business. No one wants to pay those extremely high prices if they don’t have to. Especially with the economy like it is.

Since 1979 we have been located at 5560 Highway 105 in Beaumont, Texas. Beaumont is a town of just over 110,000 and is located in Southeast Texas directly in the path of Interstate Highway 10. Sixty miles to the east is Lake Charles, Louisiana and 100 miles to the west is Houston, Texas.

Northend Cycle has been in business for over 30 years. In that time span it is figured that we have bought, sold and disassembled or parted out over 12,000 old, used, wrecked, burnt, flooded and out of date motorcycles. Included in these numbers are Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawasaki, Polaris, Harley Davidson and many other makes and brands of bikes and ATVs. During that time we have dealt with just about every year of vehicle including but not limited to the following-1970,1971,1972,1973,1974,1975, 1976, 1977,1978,1979,1980,1981,1982,1983,  1984,1985,1986,1987,1988,1989, 1990,1991,1992,1993,1994,1995,1996, 1997,1998,1999,2000,2001,2002,2003, 2004,2005,2006,2007,2008 and 2009.  As to the types we have had dirt bikes, street bikes, highway bikes, police bikes, custom bikes, cruisers, choppers, ATVs and 4-wheelers.

Over the years we have purchased our wrecked and rebuildable bikes from major insurance companies and insurance adjusters in all 50 states. We have also purchased many of them from individuals like yourself that have either lost interest in their bike and just wanted it out of the way or maybe were in the process of buying a newer model and did not have the room for two bikes.

We have purchased 18-wheeler loads of used parts and used bikes from motorcycle dealerships all over the U.S. that were in the process of cleaning house to create space for newer more profitable inventory and other motorcycle shops that were going out of business or selling out to new owners who didn’t have any use for parts that were not carried in the current inventory.

I doubt there is a scenario you could mention that we haven’t encountered. After Hurricane Katrina visited New Orleans, we were requested to recover over 120 late model motorcycles and three wheelers from the city and surrounding areas that had been submerged in up to 10’ of saltwater. The majority of these were Harley Davidsons but most other major brands were also represented.
